My Top Travel Spots: Short Haul

It's summer and the first thing that comes to my mind with summer is holidays. Let's be honest we all want to be jetting off year round and spending our days in hotter climates with delicious food and sights to explore. To be honest I spend about 99% of my life dreaming of distant islands, beautiful sandy beaches and quaint city breaks and I'm currently planning my summer travels and subsequently my back year travels, ooo. But until then I'm stuck reminiscing of all the amazing places I've been and telling you why these make the list for my favourite travel destinations. My complete list includes everything from short haul to long, cheap breaks and a bit more pricey trips so regardless of what you're after there should be somewhere on the list that will appeal to you.

My Tavira Adventure: Part Two

After only a few short days in the town of Tavira, I had fallen in love. It's quaint charm, friendly locals and ridiculously high temperatures meant this town was just everything you could ever want here, I began exploring the beautiful town. But there was still so much too see including the gorgeous Ilha De Tavira, the island that city plays host to only a quick ferry ride down the river. I mean what more could you ask for than a island beach along with some gorgeous sunsets and lots of delicious Tapas.

My Tavira Adventure

A sleepy little fishing village on the east coast of Portugal is where my latest travel adventure found me. My mother and I wanted a last minute getaway where we could soak up some sun, enjoy some delicious fresh seafood and just unwind a little. Now we could think of plenty of places we'd been before that could offer us this but I like to explore new places so we went back to the drawing board decided to ventured to somewhere exciting and new. This lead us to Tavira and without a second thought we booked it. What couldn't we love about this little Portuguese town, unspoilt and charming.

My Krakow Adventure: Part Two

In the first half of my amazing break to Krakow, which if you haven't stumbled across yet is here, I spoke about my initial venture around the city itself and learning more about the harrowing history of the city that comes from its time during occupation in the second world war. The rest of our trip was more about exploring the beautiful city itself and taking in the relaxed vibe which the city is seeped in. It was also when I got to celebrate my year anniversary with my handsome boyfriend James which made it even more special. We took in the rest of the sights the city had to offer while also finding some hidden gems too. Krakow was such a wonderful city and the most perfect place for a city break. Take me back pretty please.

My Krakow Adventure

So it seems me and my James have started a little tradition of buying each other weekend breaks for each others Birthdays, not a bad idea because we both get to enjoy our gifts. It was my time to plan the trip for James 21st birthday and with all of Europe at my fingers I knew I had to find somewhere special. This time we headed more inland than we did in Dubrovnik (you can see my adventures from that trip here and here) and headed to Krakok, Poland. I didn't know what to expect from Poland, all I knew was based on WWII but I had many friends who had told me it was a beautiful city, rich in history and cheap in price. I ended up booking our break in Krakow to overlap with that of our 1st anniversary after having been together a year, thought it was a nice way to celebrate.

We crammed so much into our five days from vodka tasting to seeing all the sights the city had to offer to horse drawn carriage rides and sampling traditional food and of course visiting Auschwitz. After doing all my research about the city and planning our little weekend away I was so excited to explore Krakow and see what this European hotspot for weekend breaks is all about.

My Edinburgh Adventure

Love has be in the air recently with Valentines day and all, and my boyfriend decided that wad the perfect time for a little weekend get away to Edinburgh. We've been talking about visiting the city for a while now and having a little trip the zoo to see the pandas, I just love all things bear related you see. So he was amazing enough to surprise me with this little weekend city break. Being the detective that I am I sussed his little surprise, he was asking what time we could drive up... there's not many places up of Newcastle to be honest, but it didn't ruin it in fact I think I made it that much better because I was able to get all excited for our little trip. 

I've never been to Edinburgh or Scotland for that matter, apart from one quick flight  to train change over so I didn't really get to see the city. I don't know why I've never been, seems odd especially now I'm in Newcastle and you can grab train tickets for next to nothing. This made me even more excited for the weekend ahead. On Thursday night James finally gave me a little outline of what he'd planned for us and managed to included lots of my favourite things from yummy food at Five Guys and Ben's Cookies to sight seeing at the castle. Fair to say I was very excited for our little trip to Edinburgh.

My Dubrovnik adventure: part two

So in the first part of my Dubrovnik blog, which if you haven't seen yet is here, I spoke about my first two amazing days in the most gorgeous hidden gem of a city break. But the next two days were just as amazing; full of lots of beautiful views, amazing sights and the nerdiest tour of all. So the main reason we went to Dubrovnik in the first place is because it plays host to Kings Landing from HBO's Game of Thrones and being a huge fan (no shame) and an aspiring actress visiting the sets and learning inside secrets about filming was amazing for me. We also stumbled upon the most beautiful bar with the best view ever, I can't even begin to describe it so make sure you read on to check that out. Dubrovnik was one of the most beautiful places I've ever been to and hopefully reading this will make you realise just how much this place has to offer.  

My Dubrovnik Adventure

So at the end of November I was lucky enough to be treated to a trip to Dubrovnik, Croatia as a gift for my Birthday from my lovely boyfriend, I know he spoils me. This mid-semester break was the perfect relaxtion trip to escape from university work and a chance for me to explore what's meant to be one of the most beautiful, fairytale like cites in Europe. And that it was. Wow, I've never been to a place that felt so much like living in a fairy tale; a walled city overlooking the ocean, hidden at the foot of a mountain. This city is so enchanting that it's used as the location for Kings Landing within Game Of Thrones, this is manly the reason my boyfriend treated me to a trip here in the first place. I'm secretly a massive nerd and an even bigger game of thrones fan, so in keeping with that I was treated to a tour of the locations used for filming where we learned about the show and the real history of Dubrovnik. I really can't describe how amazing this place and our short break here was.
