Urban Angel Edinburgh

While the thought of waking up daily to a boyfriend to cuddle is nice, the thought of waking up to brunch in bed fills me with a greater sense of euphoria. I love brunch like really love it. And while that may sound like the most middle class and stereotypical basic white girl statement that there could possibly be, without mentioning the words pumpkin spice, it's true. Brunch is a great meal where the beauty of breakfast and lunch combine to make it perfectly acceptable to eat savoury and sweet... at the same time. For me, the ideal brunch combines smoothies or a little fizz if the occasion deems fit, french toast and a variation of some form of eggs benedict. I usually opt for eggs royal which is just benedict but with smoked salmon instead of ham because it's my absolute favourite. So because I feel so strongly about eggs benedict/royale/florentine I have become a bit of a connoisseur in said area and I'm always on the hunt for a great brunch spot wherever I may be. So when one of my flatmates during my month in Edinburgh said she wanted the best eggs benny on the morning of her birthday you bet I did my darndest to find the best, and oh did I. After a little Google here and a bit of Buzzfeed there it seemed the 'best eggs benedict in Edinburgh' resided at Urban Angel so off we went on the hunt for deliciousness and boy, oh boy did we find it.

Spring Detox Waters

Now the spring has sprung and everything seems to finally becoming more colourful and vibrant again, I thought it was time to write a post which gets some colour along with some great heath benefits into your life. So since the end of last year I've been watching my weight and actively trying to become more healthy and aware of what I'm putting into my body. Now I'm no where near my goals, nor do I stick to my diet/exercise routine like a should but regardless since making an active choice to become healthier I've lost over a stone, hurray! One way I've aided my weight loss is by increasing my daily water intake. Not only does keeping hydrated do wonders for your skin, but but it helps curbs my cravings by making me feel fuller. Plus dehydration could be the root of your snacking cravings in the first place. I've been trying to drink three litres a day, but at least two! But all the water can get a little boring so I've been switching it up by adding different fruits and herbs into my drinks to reap the extra benefits of detox waters. They're so tasty and totally instagram worthy, so here's my three favourite fruity recipes!

Burger and Lobster Manchester

Sometimes when you go dinner and there's too many options on the menu it can be a little confusing and bewildering, like what do you want, what shouldn't you miss, what's different and interesting. It can all be a little too much. Sometimes I just want to sit down and decide between this or that and eat, is that really too much to ask? Well apparently not because that's the very concept at Burger and Lobster, where the options on the menu (or should I say lack of a menu) are literally Burger or Lobster... or both is you can handle that... apparently I can. So if you like meat, or if you like lobster, or if you just swing both ways then this place is the place for you.

#LFDF10 The Leodensian: Almost Famous Leeds

Every year Leeds celebrates it love for good grub with the annual Food and Drink Festival in Millieum Square. However this year for the first time as part of the 10th anniversary of the festival, my amazing hometown is throwing it's first ever 'month of food'. Between the 22nd of May and the 7th of June, there's countless foodie events on across the city. So if you want something to tickle your tastebuds then definitely check it out. For me there was one stand out, tasty treat I just had to get my hands on when I saw the line-up for this finger lickin' month. It was the commemorative burger created by the wonderful folk over at Almost Famous Leeds, The Leodensian. A burger that just screams all things... Yorkshire, Yorkshire, Yorkshire.

The Fat Hippo Underground Newcastle

The legend says beneath the streets of Newcastle hides a Fat Hippo, tucked away underground... Or more like word of mouth about the amazing eats you find right under your feet on Shakespeare Street.   I'm such a massive fan of the Fat Hippo in Jesmond, just out of the city centre but heard The Fat Hippo Underground was just as good, if not better so I thought I definitely had to check it out. Awaited me were my the mouthwatering burgers I have come to expect from the Fat Hippo family. As they say... 'Good food. Messy fingers. Juicy burgers Fat Hippo do the good kind of gluttony'.

Tapa Edinburgh

Last month I was surprised with a lovely weekend break for Valentines day where we ventured over the Scottish border to the beautiful city of Edinburgh. I wrote a full blog post about all the exciting things we got up to while there such as going to the castle and the zoo which you can read all about here. On our first night we wanted to try eat somewhere a little different and upon some research through Trip Advisor and Buzzfeed we heard about a lovely authentic Tapas restaurant just a few minutes out of the heart of the city.

So a reservation was made and off we went with our stomaches empty and mouths watering. Now I'm a massive tapas fan so I really was looking forward to this feast. Give me all the garlic coated seafood and spicy patatas bravas one could possibly consume and I could still leave hungry. One of my favourites things about Mediterranean holidays is eating their cuisine, everything is so fresh and tasty with flavours of citrus, garlic and spices. I clearly was ready for some tapas. We arrived at Tapa, hoping the reviews hadn't built this place up too much... but they didn't even come close.

Five Guys Leeds

Just outside of Leeds City Centre hides a real treat from across the pond. Kirkstall's Cardigan Fields has now become the new home for the delicious Five Guys burgers and fries. A place where real quality food meets speed and that all american diner kind of feel. I've always tried to find Five Guys in the states but without a car they're harder to track down so once the Leeds store opened I knew I just had to go and try one of their famous burgers and fries.  I finally see what all the fuss is about. So whether you want the best burger you’ve had in forever, hot dogs, peanuts or just every soda flavour you could possibly ever think of really look no further. This place really does offer up heaven in a brown paper bag.
